After 10 years, the company has recognized that they need to move away from the OS they’ve been using which was Red hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The Standard Edition is designed for typical business users who want a stable platform for day-to-day operations, and includes support for critical security updates and daily system image updates. The Red Hat Enterprise Edition is designed for systems administrators who need to manage multiple Amazon Linux nodes in a production environment.

The Ubuntu edition is designed for applications that are not compatible with other editions of Amazon Linux.
